~.The "dark" side of the moon is due to the fact that one side is not illuminated by the sun when we observe, it and since the Moon takes time to complete its movement around our planet, as well.as to rotate on itself, it is that's why we always see the same face. The phrase "the Dark Side of the Moon" usually refers to the side of the Moon that we cannot see from Earth. It takes the Moon about 29 days to orbit Earth. It takes almost the same time to rotate on its axis. This is the reason why from Earth we always see the same side of the Moon. This part of the Moon is not actually the "Dark Side", it should be more accurately called the "Remote Side". The same amount of sunlight reaches the side of the Moon that is not seen from Earth as the side that we do see. In truth, the only dark side of the Moon is the side that does not point to the Sun at any given time.
